Fourth of July Celebration

The Monroe Lions Club, with disappointment, has decided it is best to not hold the Light Up the Sky festival this year due to the current COVID-19 situation.

Even though we still have two months, there is no guarantee that events that attract large crowds will be allowed in the State of Ohio. This makes it very hard to plan and our food vendors are nervous about their prospects. We also know that our sponsors are having a tough time right now and it’s very hard for us to justify asking for donations when many are just hoping their business survives.

The Lions are extremely grateful for the support our activities have received over the years from the community, the small businesses and the City of Monroe. We remain confident that things will get better in time and we will be back in 2021.

At this point the Fourth of July parade and fireworks are still in question. While we are not ruling them out at this time, current guidelines from the State would not allow us to hold these events safely.
