The City of Monroe's Zoning Code (including the Subdivision Regulations) are being updated to reflect current technologies, emerging trends, and the goals of the City's Comprehensive Plan. This webpage provides information on how the City is approaching this project and will be updated as the City moves through the process.
Process
This process is labor-intensive and will take approximately a year to complete. Consultants from McBride Dale Clarion will meet with various residential, commercial and industrial stakeholders to determine how they are affected by our Zoning Code and what they perceive as the strengths and weakness of the existing Code. A Technical Review Committee will meet at least five times to review potential changes and make recommendations as to how to proceed. Staff from a variety of City departments will also provide comment and feedback to the consultants.
There will be five public meetings that will give residents, businesses, and other interested parties the opportunity to be involved in the process and share their thoughts on the proposed language. Finally, there will be additional opportunities for public comment prior to adoption by City Council.
