Movies In The Park TrailerOngoing parks programming efforts include contract administration with local sport leagues, activities such as the Movies in the Park series, and planning and staff support for major events such as Light up the Sky and Memorial and Veterans' Day remembrance services.

The Public Works Department also serves as staff assistance to the City’s Park and Recreation Board. The five members of the Park Board are appointed by City Council for five year terms. The Board is responsible for guiding how the park system’s assets are used and approving programming/activities.

Monroe is a founding organizational member of the Tri-State Trails Org, supporting its mission to connect people and places with a regional trail and bikeway network that enhances vibrancy and equity in our community. Efforts are underway to complete the Great Miami River Trail through Monroe. Portions of the nature trail are accessible through Monroe Bicentennial Commons Park.
